How do Nerve-Sensors work? We can show you on our research field!

From theory to practice! Below is a description of one of the many tests conducted in our research field.

The underground pipe was buried 1 m below ground level. Both pipe and surrounding ground were equipped with different types of distributed fibre optic Nerve-Sensors:

to measure different physical-mechanical quantities like:

The behaviour of the pipe was investigated during selected mechanical and thermal loads. The graph shows example strain distributions measured by the sensor glued to the top surface of the pipe during the pull-out test. The very localised influence of the pulling belts is clearly visible.

On our specially prepared research field we can show the operation of DFOS sensors in practice. We also provide training. Contact us!
